History

Cooper & Claiborne Construction, Inc. is a Virginia corporation established in 1983 conducting business in the central region of the state.

The company has a wide range of construction experience with services provided to industry, federal, state, and local governments.

Our daily operations are  managed by Thelma Cooper, Elizabeth Holland, and Mark Powers. All employees are residents of the localities we serve and have a long term employment history with the company. Our community pride contributes to daily excellence, a safe work environment, and a desire to improve the quality of life for the citizens of our community.

Cooper & Claiborne Construction, Inc. established and continues to maintain a dynamic and proactive safety culture with all employees, throughout the company, and on all its projects. Our safety procedures and practices are fully responsive to client safety programs and federal, state, and local regulations and codes.

Our program is audited weekly to ensure effective implementation and to identify and develop continuous improvement.

We founded our safety culture on three key elements:

  • 1 Everyone is responsible for safety.
  • 2 Safety awareness and safety performance are conditions for employment.
  • 3 All accidents and injuries are preventable.

Weekly safety meetings that focus on specific tasks related to job performance are mandatory. Daily job site inspection analysis and equipment/vehicle inspection logs are also required on each project.
